The holidays are almost over. And I haven't gotten everything want yet.
No, it's not the end of my search, but it is the end of having carefree time.
Yes, the end of our childhood.
Sure, we're too old to still be in our childhood, and what I'm saying a little bullshit, but trust me, we are.
After Secondary 2, your life will CHANGE.
(Actually I've been thinking about this topic for quite sometime now, and now deciding to type it out.)
From now onwards, at least in my life, we will be obsessed with WORK.
Next year, we'll be working our butts off towards end-of-year for our POLY/JC APPLICATIONS.
Yes, weren't you listening during Mr Gan's talk?
And if it doesn't work out like you wanted, you have to work EVEN HARDER in Secondary 4.
'Cause there's the good-ol' Os/Ns-going-to-be-Os.
And next year, we'll be having our individual subjects to go batshit crazy studying on, and what new things to add on to our teenage lives?
If you're a Student Councilor, there's the elections (a new president), the planning of things, the cleaning of things, running of things and the saying-'this-way-please' of things.
If you're in a Uniformed Group, it's compulsory to be an NCO, meaning that you're a leader, and when anything goes wrong, someone's going to take the blame.
*Please don't sack/punish me after this, this is not complaining, it's acknowledgment. Showing that I'm getting prepared for the things ahead of me and typing down helps me accept and absorb it. And after Secondary School, more work and lesser freedom lies ahead.
In poly, it's said that after your first year of adjusting to things in your new course/school, you'd be interning 7 days a week with a horrifying pay attached. Of course I'm not encouraging anyone to only choose the course with the highest possible interning pay, but please be smart and choose one that you love and know that you'll enjoy.
Eventually, you'll continue to pursue your upcoming career in University trying to earn a degree. You'll probably be dead tired everyday and not much freetime.
After graduating, you'd be most probably trying to look for a job and support yourself. And while doing that, you work full-time and off-days are pretty limited if you're starting at the way bottom. Thus, the only long off-days legal would probably be MC (Yeah, go purposely fall down stairs and break your leg la.), pregnancy or reservist. And 2/3 costs money, so you'd better earn your money good before thinking of doing anything else.
Ah, and marriage (if people really actually get married), marriage is another story/topic that I don't know much of. I've never been married, so what do I know?
And the only way to really relax like how we are relaxing now?
LOSING YOUR JOB.
Sure, after years and years following, you miss relaxing, and once you get older, you'd probably feel like relaxing all the time, maybe even at work. Thus, leading you to get full of yourself, hating a boss so-much, or boss hating you, and both situations leading to getting sacked or quitting.
And definitely, you'd think, "Ah, that was a long kukubird ride, I NEED A BREAK!"
While thinking that, you take a few months rest and enjoying life, using up all your hard earned money from throughout the years and lead to loaning from the bank until you find another job.
So, my purpose for taking this half-an-hour to type this is that I'd like everyone to enjoy the holidays while you still can. Don't use your time unwisely. :D
